On the article Legalizing Marijuana: Should Florida Do It?

ReplyMarijuana is less harnfull than tobacco, alcohol, and all of the legal-by-prescription-and-abused-regularly opiates. The ravages of tobacco smoke are legendary. Alcohol can cause seizures, liver damage and heart damage. Prescription opiates kill thousands. If public safety is the reason for the illegaility of alcohol, then that reason falls sloppy dead in the light of the evidence.

ReplyNo particular objection, but there's not enough parking as is. Just can't see this, but if it helps pay the bills, OK.

On the article As Rays Explore Stadium Options, Councilors Seek Compromise

ReplyNope. Not interested enough in baseball. Not because of the staduim. Not the price. Not the location. Not the parking. Just not interested. And I think that is the problem-- not enough people interested in going to see a game to make it economically viable. 900,000 Pinellas residents. All those people in Hillsborough. And we cannot fill the stadium in St. Pete. If there were sold out games and people angry about not getting in, we'd know the demand was there. It is not. You don't need a new stadium. You need a venue with sufficient interest in baseball to fill the stadium. That is not here. The Rays owners are businessmen. Entrepeneurs. They gambled and lost. Understandable if they want the nanny state to fix the problem by building a new stadium. Sorry, but no. It won't solve the problem, and it's their problem, not mine.

Sounds like a better use of our LOST finds than a walk around a retention pond by the volleyball courts.

ReplyJ Jensen said it best. Consider crossing the road a Darwin test. My dog would look both ways and cross safely and she was a dog. We need humans that are at least as smart as a dog. It's first grade citizenship-- look both ways and cross only when there are no cars coming. Government cannot create intelligence by legislative fiat and it is wrong to enable stupidity. Walkers need to take responsibility for themselves and not rely on a nanny stae to hold their hands and make the cars stop just for them.

My brother knew Klingbeil a long time ago and says he is not surprised. High praise to the Largo firefighter, his brother, and the other guy who stopped Klingbeil.
