Woman Fatally Struck While Crossing Ulmerton Road is ID'd

The Tampa woman was struck by a car and later died while crossing Ulmerton near 49th Street in Largo earlier this week.

Authorities have identified a Tampa woman who died after being struck by a car while crossing Ulmerton Road in Largo earlier this week. Marcella Brydon Moore, 66, was attempting to cross Ulmerton at the intersection of 49th Street around 9:44 p.m. Monday when she was hit by a 1988 Ford Mustang headed east, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The woman was east of the crosswalk when she was hit, investigators said. She was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where she died from her injuries the next morning, according to the highway patrol. Charges are pending in the case, the FHP said Wednesday. The Mustang's driver, 32-year-old Nicholas Phillip Christini of Tampa, was unhurt. Sign up for the Largo Patch email …

No charges have been filed against the driver who investigators say hit the 66-year-old Tampa woman, who has not yet been identified.

A recent Largo Patch story about the death of an 82-year-old pedestrian on Seminole Boulevard has drawn lots of reaction from our readers. Several people commented that conditions on Seminole Boulevard aren't safe for pedestrians or motorists. "The city of Largo needs to put more lights out in that area," posted maria. "It is way too dark at night and they as well need to fix that light on the corner of where McDonalds and Seminole Blvd is at. I do not believe my mom had her dog when she was crossing the road. I believe she gave up looking for the dog and was headed home. As for why an elderly person would be crossing a road at night, perhaps it was because she gave up her drivers license because she was 82 years old. Pedestrian Killed at Roosevelt Boulevard and 58th Street

The pedestrian was struck while crossing the road Thursday night. Police say the victim was not in a crosswalk.

A pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing Roosevelt Boulevard at 58th Street at 11:12 p.m. Thursday, officials say.  Largo police say two pedestrians were walking northbound, west of the intersection, and not in a crosswalk. One pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Tacoma pickup traveling westbound in the center lane. Officials said the pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene. Traffic homicide investigators do not anticipate any charges, officials said. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld as officials locate family members.
