A man struck and reversed over outside a LargoTires Plus service bay on Oct. 30 died of his injuries Friday, Dec. 7, at Bayfront Medical Center.
A Clearwater man died Friday of injuries he sustained when a pickup truck backed over him a little over a month ago at a Seminole Boulevard business. James W. Rosen was struck in a Tires Plus Total Car Care business parking lot in Largo on Oct. 30. He passed away from his injuries at Bayfront Medical Center on Dec. 7. He was 75. According to Florida Highway Patrol, John Roger Driscoll Jr., 25, of Clearwater was backing a 2004 Ford F-250 out of a service bay and did not observe Rosen standing about 40 feet away, east of the service bay. The City of Largo is investigating why a Seminole Boulevard traffic light flashes red sometimes at the intersection near the McDonald's and Largo Mall.
Largo City Commssioner Michael Smith recently asked the city to investigate why a Seminole Boulevard traffic light flashes red sometimes at the intersection near the McDonald's and Largo Mall. A pedestrian, Margaret Wix, was struck twice and died south of the intersection on Nov. 4. The elderly woman was apparently looking for her dog, which the community later helped reunite with the woman's family. The city reportedly found two issues with the traffic light on Seminole Boulevard. There are long wait times for southbound vehicles turning left into the Largo Mall. The online community helped reunite a lost dog with extended family in Florida and Tennessee after its 82-year-old owner was struck and killed on a Largo street.
When Margaret Wix was struck and killed Nov. 4 on Seminole Boulevard, the 82-year-old woman had apparently been looking for her dog along the Largo street, just south of the Largo Mall. A Patch reader alerted the community two days later that a lost dog had been found, and according to its microchip, Wix was the owner. Sheri Brown of the Animal Hospital of Seminole posted the following on the Largo Patch story: "A man brought in a dog on Monday (Nov. 5) he found with it's leash still attatched to the collar. We did a scan for a microchip number and found that Ms. Wix was the owner of the dog. An elderly woman was killed after being hit by two vehicles in the 12900 block of Seminole Boulevard Sunday evening, according to police.
An elderly woman died after being hit by two vehicles around 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening on Seminole Boulevard. The 82-year-old woman, Margaret Wix, crossed 12945 Seminole Boulevard in the center northbound lane. She was hit by a passenger car, then struck by a second vehicle that reportedly fled the scene, according to Lt. Mike Loux of the Largo Police Department. The driver of the second vehicle, Neil David Habgood, 31, of St. Petersburg, returned to the scene of the accident about an hour later, Loux said. Habgood was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death. A 75-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday (Feb. 1) evening.
A sport utility vehicle hit Patrick Davis around 7 p.m. on Feb. 1 while he was trying to cross Keene Road near Roberta Street, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Sherry Gerow, 44 drove a 2004 Chevy Tahoe north on Keene Road and struck Davis outside of a crosswalk. An ambulance transported Davis to Largo Medical Center where he died, according to ABC Action News. No criminal charges will be filed against the driver, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The Largo Police stressed the importance of using crosswalks. "It is very important for pedestrians to use crosswalks, as these are senseless deaths that could have easily been avoided," said , a city representative, according to Bay News 9. A Largo woman was killed attempting to cross U.S. 19 Wednesday night but no charges will be filed against the driver.
LARGO - Largo police will not charge the driver of a vehicle who struck a pedestrian late Wednesday night attempting to cross U.S. 19. Police say Tina Gallardo Robinson, 21, of Largo attempted to run across the busy Pinellas County artery at roughly 11 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 19 and 150th Ave. Robinson didn't make it as she was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Keir Hopkins, 43, in a 2002 Cadillac. Police officials determined Hopkins was traveling an estimated 60 mph. Robinson died at the scene.

LARGO - A pedestrian was killed Wednesday evening which forced a closure of U.S. 19 in Largo. Limited details concerning the incident have been released but Largo police state a 31-year old female, who has yet to be identified as of midnight, was struck at roughly 9 p.m. U.S. 19 was closed from East Bay Drive south to 142nd Street North so police could complete the investigation at the scene. Thus far the driver has not been charged but an investigation is ongoing. The victim's name and additional details concerning the incident are expected to be released Thursday morning or early Thursday afternoon.
