For the third presidential election, customers at Frida's Cafe & Bakery on Ulmerton Road correctly predicted the winner of the presidential contest. President Barack Obama was the people's choice among voters in Pinellas County, across the nation and at Frida's. The Largo bakery has been selling sugar cookies with the likeness of Obama or Gov. 9,000 Pinellas Ballots Still Uncounted

Supervisor of Elections spokesperson Nancy Whitlock says it's not known if the uncounted ballots will impact close races.

The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections' canvassing board is spending Wednesday morning processing about 9,000 mail ballots. Spokesperson Nancy Whitlock says the mail ballots were dropped off at polling locations all over the county Tuesday. Voters had until 7 p.m. to drop off the ballots. Whitlock says it is not known if the uncounted ballots will impact close races like the Palm Harbor Fire Commission Seat 3, in which challenger Debbie Buschman beat incumbent Bob Shatanoff by 247 votes. "We'll just have to wait and see. It will be several hours," Whitlock told Patch on Tuesday morning. Whitlock says the election supervisor's office will update its website with updated vote totals after all of the mail ballots have been processed. …

And yes, there are multiple types of intel, but my point was that there are often conflicts in information that is coming in in real time and I was giving examples. In the Benghazi situation, I'd professionally wager that the best source will be Humint, supplemented by Comint. And, as multiple echelons were …   more ›

Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri Defeats Scott Swope

Gualtieri, appointed interim sheriff in 2011, easily beat Democratic challenger Scott Swope in Tuesday's election.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri easily defeated challenger Scott Swope on Tuesday. With 299 of 299 Precincts Reporting, Gualtieiri won 59.24 percent to 40.45 percent.  "It’s a great night and a culmination of 18 months of a lot of hard work by a lot of people." Gualtieri told a cheering crowd of more than 500 at the Hilton Carillon on Tuesday night.  Gualtieri was appointed interim sheriff by Gov. Rick Scott in November 2011, after Jim Coats retired from the job. He beat former Pinellas Sheriff Everitt Rice in a contentious Republican Primary Election in August. First-Time Largo Voter Loved the Independence of Voting

Aliena Cargill, 18, ended up voting by mail because it was easier but was still out at the polls Tuesday to support a local candidate.

First-time voter Aliena Cargill, of Largo, did not know what to expect with the voting process. She ended up voting by mail because it was easier. But she still came to the polls at the Old Largo Feed Store in Largo Central Park on Tuesday to support a local candidate. "I liked voting because I could do it myself and be independent," Cargill said. The 18-year-old took the presidential campaign process seriously, watching all of the debates. "I definitely watched everything the presidential candidates had to say during the debates. What they planned to do and they could change," Cargill said. Health care coverage was the big issue for the recent Palm Harbor University High School Graduate, she said. Related Coverage:
