9,000 Pinellas Ballots Still Uncounted

Supervisor of Elections spokesperson Nancy Whitlock says it's not known if the uncounted ballots will impact close races.

The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections' canvassing board is spending Wednesday morning processing about 9,000 mail ballots. Spokesperson Nancy Whitlock says the mail ballots were dropped off at polling locations all over the county Tuesday. Voters had until 7 p.m. to drop off the ballots. Whitlock says it is not known if the uncounted ballots will impact close races like the Palm Harbor Fire Commission Seat 3, in which challenger Debbie Buschman beat incumbent Bob Shatanoff by 247 votes. "We'll just have to wait and see. It will be several hours," Whitlock told Patch on Tuesday morning. Whitlock says the election supervisor's office will update its website with updated vote totals after all of the mail ballots have been processed. …

Voting Today at 3 Pinellas Locations

You can avoid possible lines at the polls Tuesday by going to one of three elections offices to fill out a mail ballot. Once you complete the ballot, just drop it in the mail ballot box.

Want to vote today instead of Tuesday? Three Pinellas County Elections Offices will be open until 5 p.m. today. The offices are located in Clearwater, Largo and St. Petersburg. Voters will be able to fill out one of the mail ballots that are available at the elections office. You just need to complete the mail ballot, then insert it into the mail ballot drop-off box at the elections office. Patch stopped by the elections office at the Clearwater Courthouse on Sunday afternoon. There were no lines and the staff was very helpful. Voting With a Mail Ballot? Here's Where You Can Drop It Off

The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections has three designated mail ballot drop-off locations in and around Largo.

If you are voting with a mail ballot, you can drop it off in Largo through election day, Tuesday, Nov. 6. E-mail or Mail: Which One is More Heartfelt?

It may be quicker and easier to send an e-mail, but getting something in the mail the traditional way makes me feel special.

The frequency of my visits to the U.S. Post Office in my neighborhood changed about five years ago. I had a P.O. Box I used to mail letters and cards to my friends and family living in other states. I enjoyed the meticulous nature of folding each letter, placing the stamp, sealing the envelope and blowing good luck on it as I sent it on its way.  But things changed. I got rid of my P.O. Box and started sending e-mails instead.  The selling point was it saved me time. Lots of it. Then I got to thinking the less time I put into sending this electronic message, the less energy it had and the less heartfelt it was. It doesn't mean I cared less for the friends and family I was sending it to. It just meant that I had less time to devote to the …
