Patch Picks: Largo Librarians' Favorite Five Books
March 2, was Read Across America Day, the National Education Association's reading awareness and motivation program. We asked our local librarians to suggest their favorite books for children, teens and adults.
March 2, was the National Education Association's Read Across America day. The annual event is celebrated on Dr. Seuss' birthday to encourage children to read. Across the nation, communities planned events and encourage parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians, local officials, celebrities and others to read to our children. To get some ideas on the best books to read, Patch visited Largo Public Library and asked librarians Mercedes Bleattler and Jennifer Shaffer for their recommendations. For teens, Shaffer suggested the popular Twilight series, graphic novels like InuYasha and Peter and The Starcatchers .
