Clearwater Police conducted a prostitution and drug detail in the East Gateway and Old Clearwater Bay neighborhoods throughout the weekend, making a total of eight arrests.
A Largo man was arrested and charged with drug possession during a prostitution and drug detail run by Clearwater Police in the East Gateway and Old Clearwater Bay neighborhoods throughout the weekend. The Anti Crime and Downtown Bike Team conducted the detail in response to neighbors quality of life concerns, according to police. Suspects arrested and charged include:

A Largo man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after crashing his Mercedes in a median on south Clearwater Beach, according to police.
A Largo man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after crashing his Mercedes in a median on south Clearwater Beach, according to police. A Clearwater Police officer heard Ivo N. Santos' crash a Mercedes into a median near the intersection of South Gulfview Boulevard and Gulf Boulevard around 2:12 a.m. Tuesday, according to police. The officer found that Santos had taken out palm trees, landscaping and signage, totaling the Mercedes. Santos, 29, exited the vehicle then fled, police said. Santos was found hiding behind a nearby hotel by two K-9 teams, according to investigators. A 31-year-old man is charged with child abuse after he admitted to Clearwater Police he was trying to buy cocaine while leaving his 8-month-old son in the back of a car with no air conditioning.
A Largo man is charged with child abuse after authorities said he left his 8-month-old son locked in the back of a car while trying to buy crack cocaine in Clearwater. Shawn Zartman, 31, was arrested just before 8 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Engman Street, where Clearwater Police found the infant locked in a rear seat of a vehicle that wasn't running and had no air conditioning. Zartman admitted he was inside trying to purchase crack, according to a public safety spokesperson. Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel checked the child at the scene and determined he was in good condition. He was returned to his mother. After being reported missing Monday morning, 86-year-old Lydia Jermann was found in a creek near the nursing home where she lived.
A missing elderly woman with slight dementia who was reported missing Monday morning was found dead later in the day near the nursing home where she lives. The staff at the Highland Terrace Assisted Living Facility reported Lydia Jermann, 86, missing at 1:56 p.m., according to Clearwater Police. After an extensive search including patrol officers, detectives, police volunteers, Americorps members and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Eagle helicoptor, Jermann was found dead at 4:34 p.m. in a creek west of the nursing home near 1550 Lotus Path, police said. Clearwater and Largo Police worked the detail to arrest six suspects prostitution related crimes.
Woman with birth dates spanning five decades all were arrested and charged as suspects participating in the world’s oldest profession Thursday (Aug. 11). Clearwater and Largo police arrested and charged six women with prostitution and related crimes in areas with a long history of complaints by residents and businesses, according to Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for Clearwater police.
