Top Headlines: Saving Animals, Fireplace Restaurant, Largo Hotel Shooting

1. Largo Police continue to investigate a hotel shooting in which one woman was killed and another was critically wounded. 2. U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Matt Sitton of Largo was honored at last weekend's Veterans Day Ceremony in Largo Central Park. 3. Fallen Largo Soldier Honored at Veterans Day Ceremony

Largo held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Sunday night in Largo Central Park.

A fallen American hero was honored at Sunday night's Veterans Day Ceremony in Largo. Each year, Largo presents eagle statues to a couple Largo City employees who have served in the military as a part of its annual Veterans Day Ceremony in Largo Central Park. This year the city also included the family of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Matt Sitton in the presentation of the eagle statues. Sitton's parents, widow and toddler son attended the ceremony. The Largo native was 26 when he died Aug. 2 in Afghanistan; it was the third deployment for the Indian Rocks Christian School graduate. The city employees who also received the eagles honoring and appreciating their military service were Largo Police Lt. Mike Loux and Largo Asst. Fire Chief Doug Swartz. …

Yes, There's School on Veterans Day in Pinellas County

The national holiday is Monday, Nov. 12, this year, but Pinellas County's public schools are in session.

As people across America recognize men and women who have served in the armed forces, students in Largo's public schools will be in the classroom. All Pinellas County Public Schools are open Monday, Nov. 12, the national observance of the holiday. Most government offices in Pinellas are closed. Pinellas' public school students won’t have to wait long for some time off, though. Schools will be closed the week of Nov 19-23, for two days of professional development for teachers and for Thanksgiving break, according to the school district’s calendar. Largo Honors Veterans Sunday

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

Largo will honor all veterans and active duty military personnel in a Veterans Day Ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in Largo Central Park. The ceremony will be held in the park's Military Court of Honor. The event includes special music and a color guard presentation. All ages are welcome to attend this honorary event. Five Things to Know on Veterans Day

Here's a look at holiday events and closings in Largo, and some facts about our military veterans.

Thanks to all the veterans who have served our country! Largo is honoring military veterans with a ceremony at Largo Central Park from 7-9 p.m. today.  Banks, government offices and libraries in Largo will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled. When you thank a veteran today, here are some facts to keep in mind about their role in shaping the United States: 1. Veteran voters 2. Veterans in the workforce 3. Veterans in Florida 4. Veterans Day Ceremony at Largo Central Park

Veterans Day ceremony will be held at Largo Central Park on Friday, Nov. 11.

Celebrate our nations veterans this Friday with a Veterans Day ceremony at Largo Central Park. The ceremony is at 7 p.m. in Central Park's Memorial Court of Honor. Residents from across the Tampa Bay area are encouraged to attend this free honorary event that will feature music, a color guard presentation and keynote speaker Frank Correa, museum historian and senior docent from The Armed Forces Military Museum in Largo.
