Frida's Offers Delicious Fresh Food and Treats in Largo

Frida's offers a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, soups and baked goods.

Frida's, a well-known bakery and cafe on Ulmerton Road, offers a great variety of sandwiches, breakfast crepes, salads, soups and baked goods. Plus, the spacious cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with free WiFi available. With so many items on the menu — such as the cranberry maple ham sandwich, chicken quesadilla panini, fresh beets salad and soups of the day — it sometimes hard to pick just one item to eat. Hooray for the combos, which offer patrons the choice of picking two items. The Caesar salad and turkey with smoked gouda panini combo was delicious. The fresh salad greens were crisp. The panini was flavorful, especially with the smoked cheese. The combo cost $7.69. Frida's offers gluten-free bread and special menu items…

Hungry for Chicken Wings?

Niagara Tap may have some of the best wings in Tampa Bay.

When I drove up to Niagara Tap for a review, I was looking forward to some great wings. Patch readers had raved for months about the special rubs and sauces for chicken wings at Niagara Tap. I decided to order ten honey barbeque chicken wings.  The wait for the food was only about ten to fifteen minutes and once the order came I decided to enjoy my food outside.  The moment of truth came when I opened the box filled with wings. The wings looked great and full of meat and sauce. I took my first bite and was in heaven. My love affair with honey barbeque wings started years ago when I tried some amazing sweet and tangy wings at KFC. Since then I have tried honey barbeque wings at all the famous places around the Tampa Bay area, but never …

Sardo's Pizza Offers Delicious, Brooklyn-Style Pizza at Affordable Prices

Restaurant review: Super Sardo's Pizza & Pasta is one stop you will want to make in Largo.

Driving down Ulmerton Road and through much of Largo, it's easy to miss great businesses that have been put behind traffic cones and road blocks. Super Sardo's Pizza & Pasta is one of those that you should not miss. From a glance, the restaurant doesn't seem too impressive. When you enter, it certainly has the neighborhood ambiance, with photos hanging on the walls and a game center for the kids in the back. The menu seems traditional, offering pizza by the slice or by the pie. A slice will range from around $2 to $5, while a pie can cost up to around $25. I decided to go traditional and order a slice of pepperoni pizza, while my companion went with a traditional cheese slice. The soda fountain had a good mix of seltzer and soda, and I …

Can't wait to try Sardo's. I have a home in Largo off of West Bay and one in Columbus Ohio. A small suburb outside of Columbus has 6 pizza places better than any I have had in Pinellas County.   more ›

Taste Buzz: Food Reviews and Cheap Eats

Taco, Taco: Los Mayas (Los Mariachis)

The name may have changed, but this Clearwater classic is still going strong.

Throughout the ‘90s, the name Los Mariachis was synonymous with Mexican meals in Pinellas County. Known for its heaping plates of affordable, authentic Mexican food, not to mention gigantic “Monster mugs” of beer and margaritas, Los Mariachis was an ideal dining destination for businesspeople on lunch, frugal families, and young people looking for a cheap night out. Since that heyday, the options for Mexican food in Pinellas County, and specifically Clearwater, have changed and multiplied, with taco joints now seemingly occupying every other corner. Heck, even the name of Los Mariachis changed – the Cleveland Street location is now called Los Mayas due to new additions to the menu, although the Ulmerton Road branch still goes by the …
