Stamp Prices Increase: What You Need to Know for Your Next Trip to the Largo Post Office

The price of postage to send a letter is increasing to 46 cents on Jan. 27.

Headed to the Largo Post Office for stamps this month? You might want to bring some extra money. The price of a stamp to send a letter is increasing by 1 cent on Jan. 27. The last postage increase for letters was in 2012. “The new 46-cent Forever stamps will allow customers to mail letters to any location in the United States,” according to a press release from the United States Postal Service. “Forever stamps are always good for mailing a one-ounce letter anytime in the future regardless of price changes.” The Postal Service is also introducing a new Global Forever stamp, which will allow you to mail letters anywhere in the world for $1.10. Largo Honors Veterans Sunday

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

Largo will honor all veterans and active duty military personnel in a Veterans Day Ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in Largo Central Park. The ceremony will be held in the park's Military Court of Honor. The event includes special music and a color guard presentation. All ages are welcome to attend this honorary event. New Postal Prices Start Sunday

The cost to mail letters and packages through the Postal Service increases a penny Sunday (Jan. 22).

The price for first-class forever stamps goes up a penny Sunday (Jan. 22). The convenient and money saving part of the forever stamps is the option to stock up on stamps this week. It’s the first forever stamp price increase since May 2009. Largo Post Office to Survive as USPS Reviews Branches for Closure

The US Postal Service announced today it will consider closing thousands of branches.

In a move designed to streamline operations and save money, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will review more than 3,600 branches nationwide to decide which ones to close. The three post offices in Largo are not on the list of branches under review that the USPS released today. Tampa Bay branches under review A spokeswoman for the USPS in St. Louis told Patch the study covers retail (branches) only, and stressed that delivery is not under review.  “Customers have shown us that they no longer need a brick-and-mortar post office,” Valerie Hughes, USPS spokeswoman, said. E-mail or Mail: Which One is More Heartfelt?

It may be quicker and easier to send an e-mail, but getting something in the mail the traditional way makes me feel special.

The frequency of my visits to the U.S. Post Office in my neighborhood changed about five years ago. I had a P.O. Box I used to mail letters and cards to my friends and family living in other states. I enjoyed the meticulous nature of folding each letter, placing the stamp, sealing the envelope and blowing good luck on it as I sent it on its way.  But things changed. I got rid of my P.O. Box and started sending e-mails instead.  The selling point was it saved me time. Lots of it. Then I got to thinking the less time I put into sending this electronic message, the less energy it had and the less heartfelt it was. It doesn't mean I cared less for the friends and family I was sending it to. It just meant that I had less time to devote to the …
