Maggie’s Crafts Moves to Larger Facility in Largo

Maggie's Crafts shop moved from its Clearwater location to a larger facility in Largo. The shop also added more art classes and instructors.

Three years ago Maggie Anderson quit her job as a bus routing coordinator for Pinellas County Schools to devote herself full-time to teaching others the benefits of arts and crafts.  “I painted all my life.  My parents owned a ceramic shop,” she said.  My husband asked me, ‘why don’t you quit your job and do this?  Do what you love and love what you do.’"   And so she did, opening a store in Clearwater where she taught decorative painting. This past Labor Day weekend was a labor of love for Anderson.  She moved Maggie’s Crafts to a bigger location on Highland Avenue in Largo and hired several other artists to teach classes too.  Anderson said most of the customers moved along with her as well as four artists whose work are sold in the shop…

New Businesses to Open Near Largo Mall

A McDonald' and Yogurtland are opening locations near Largo Mall.

As new businesses open up shop near the busy commercial intersection of Seminole Boulevard and Ulmerton, others move to more affordable locations to keep their doors open.  Soon a McDonald's and Yogurtland will open new locations near Largo Mall.  A McDonald’s is under construction at the corner of Seminole Boulevard and Lark Drive, just across Largo Mall on Seminole Boulevard. Cky Ready, the city’s program planner in charge of development review, said plans for a new McDonald’s restaurant were approved in June.  The 4,260 square-feet restaurant will sit south of a strip mall. Ready said Seminole Boulevard will see some changes because of the new fast food restaurant. Workers will lengthen the median, allowing customers to turn west into …

Business Booming at Village Inn

Largo customers bring in 40 percent more business than expected, says owner Danny Lehan.

Just days after the Village Inn reopened business is up about 40 percent more than predicted. The restaurant’s popularity could be due to the famous pies, retro decor and location.  But Lehan said it’s more than that.  “We had a gap in the community.  It was a huge loss when it closed,” …
