New App Lets You Keep up With Your Reps. in Tallahassee

The app, which is now available to download from iTunes, allows you to watch live meetings and see what your local representatives are voting on.

It can be challenging enough to keep up with all of your local officials in Largo, let alone with leaders in Tallahassee.  With a new mobile app launched this week, however, it will be easier for you to keep up with what Rep. Larry Ahern , Rep. Ed Hooper and other Florida House members are doing.  Speaker Will Weatherford announced the launch of the free app this week, which is available for iPhones, iPads, Droid smartphones and Droid tablet devices.  “The Florida House of Representatives is proud to provide Floridians with new and exciting ways to access information about our chamber by launching the ‘FL House’ app for iOS and Android devices,” said Weatherford in a news release.  Soon, users will be able to read bills, contact House …

Rep. Ahern Wants Stronger Identity Protection

State Rep. Larry Ahern, whose district includes Largo, has filed a bill that he says will help lawn enforcement agencies arrest people who possess personal identification that is not their own.

Florida Rep. Larry Ahern (R-Seminole) has filed a bill that he says will help law enforcement agencies go after identity theft criminals.  HB 691, Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information, was filed Feb. 11. The summary of the bill states the law: "Deletes requirement that person who willfully & without authorization possesses personal identification information concerning individual without first obtaining that individual's consent have intent to fraudulently use information in order to commit specified violation; requires that person have an opportunity to explain the person's actions before an arrest may be made; provides exception." “In speaking with local law enforcement, we’re finding that it’s difficult to prosecute those…
