Mama Faraone's serves pizza, pasta and subs with a focus on fresh, homemade food.
Phil Faraone opened his first Italian restaurant 45 years ago in Chicago. For 40 years, he followed his mother's recipes for homemade sauces and fresh dough serving authentic Italian cuisine to generations of locals and celebrities such as the late George Steinbrenner, Faraone said. Then Faraone 'retired' and moved to Largo. But the tradition of family-owned and operated restaurants continued as Faraone helped first his nephew and now his son start pizza places in Largo. Dear Editor, While on vacation, just a few days ago, I took a terrible fall on glass that gave me many serious lacerations and I had to be transported by ambulance to Largo Hospital. Many people came to my aid and stayed with me while waiting for the ambulance. I was terribly distraught and was not aware of all who where helping. I remember the conversations and the women holding me and the men who helped pick me up off the glass. They stayed with me!!! I do believe Angels are put in our path when needed. I do believe there is good in most people who step up to the plate when they see another in need. Largo Hospital was unbelievably wonderful! Staff was thorough, kind and made me feel I was in safe hands. During this holiday …

The Sun Coast Osteopathic Foundation will hold the 101st Birthday Celebration for Dr. Alan J. Snider on June 30, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at the Historic Largo Feed Store (295 Central Park Drive, Largo 33771). The 2-hour special celebration will include hors d’ oeuvres, beer/wine and birthday cake. Dr. Snider’s story is an amazing journey from remote Canada to Largo. His childhood dream to build a hospital came true in 1957 with the founding of Sun Coast Hospital in Largo. The Sun Coast Osteopathic Foundation, formerly named Sun Coast Hospital Foundation, is an independent, 501(c)3 public charity which is organized and operated to improve the health and quality of life in Largo and the surrounding communities.
