Man, 19, Killed in Drive-By Shooting at Largo Party, Detectives Say

Gregory Antonio Williams II was shot and killed Friday night during a party at a residence on 134th Place North, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead Friday night in Largo. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the shooting occurred around 11:13 p.m. in the 12000 block of 134th Place North, where a party was being held. "Numerous gunshots were heard in front of the residence," sheriff's office spokesperson Cecilia Barreda said in a media release. Gregory Antonio Williams II was reportedly shot. He was taken to Largo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Detectives say there may have been three vehicles involved in the shooting. Bicyclist Struck by Car at Largo Intersection Dies

The St. Petersburg man was struck by a car driven by a Largo woman Oct. 22 and died from his injuries Nov. 1, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A bicyclist from St. Petersburg who was struck by a car at a Largo intersection last month has died, authorities said. Thomas Gregory Hirsch, 58, was crossing Bryan Dairy Road at Starkey Road on Oct. 22 when he was struck by a Pontiac Vibe that was headed westbound on Bryan Dairy, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.  Although he was in the crosswalk, Hirsch "entered into the path" of the car and violated the driver's right of way, FHP investigators said. Hirsch was ejected from his bike and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he died more than a week later, on Nov. 1. Largo Man Dies in I-75 Crash

Christian Nicholas Reimer was headed north on Interstate 75 in Pasco County when his car left the roadway, crashed into a tree and overturned, authorities said.

A 21-year-old Largo man was killed when his car hit a tree and overturned on the side of a Pasco County roadway early Thursday morning, authorities said. Christian Nicholas Reimer was headed north on Interstate 75, just south of State Road 52, at about 12:50 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Reimer's Pontiac Grand Am traveled into the center grass lane "for unknown reasons," investigators said, at which point he over-corrected to the right. His car traveled back across the northbound lanes and onto the outside grass shoulder, where it crashed into a tree and overturned. Reimer suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, the FHP reports. The incident remains under investigation.

Largo Pedestrian Killed Crossing Seminole Boulevard

A 56-year-old man was struck by a Ford Taurus on Sunday night and later died from his injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 56-year-old Largo man died after he was struck by a car while crossing Seminole Boulevard on Sunday night. Michael Patrick Bain was crossing Seminole at 110th Avenue North around 7:49 p.m. Sunday when he walked into the path of a 1997 Ford Taurus traveling southbound, according to a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson.   Bain "received critical injuries" and was taken to Largo Medical Center, where he died a short time later, Sgt. Steve Gaskins wrote in a media release. The Taurus' 71-year-old driver, Thomas R. Lardani, has not been charged. He received minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

The underlying problem remains. We need better crossings, elevated or similar. I was struck crossing Starkey Rd, IN the crosswalk, with the crossing sign. Accidents happen. Rather than calling people idiots or placing blame, we need real solutions.   more ›
