Thanks to Suncoast Hospice for posting this event listing for the 19th annual Lights of Lake Park in Largo. Each holiday season the community of Lake Park Estates illuminates its homes and decks the halls in support of the programs and services of Suncoast Hospice. It's free to attend, but donations are accepted. Since 1993 the event has raised more than $500,000. The lights are on nightly through Dec. 31. See more details here in the Patch Events Calendar. Strolling Through the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo

Sometimes the Florida Botanical Gardens' brightest colors are at night.

Largo's Florida Botanical Gardens lights up like a Christmas tree every December. Not just one Christmas tree, though – all of them. It's one of those rare Florida nights when it actually feels like winter feels in most of the country. I’m not complaining; I love that I can wear shorts on Christmas. But when we do get a cold burst, I feel brilliantly alive out in the elements, wrapped in a scarf and breathing the cold air. That’s what I’m doing tonight, and I’m doing it at the Florida Botanical Gardens. There’s no snow, but it’s a Florida wonderland all its own over here. Holiday Lights and S'mores Return to Largo Central Park

The annual holiday light display returns to Largo Central Park from Nov. 29 through early January.

Since Oct. 29, the City of Largo has been setting up lights at Largo Central Park for the annual holiday lights display. More than one million lights will illuminate the park from Nov. 29 through early January. The community will be able to enjoy the elaborate lights on the trails, trees and rooftops in the park. All of the lights except for the holiday tree will be illuminated by Nov. 29. The holiday tree will be lit at a special celebration on Dec. 1, said Largo Parks Superintendent Greg Brown. A new lighted Largo sign will be part of the holiday lights display. The special three-foot-illuminated sign will spell out L-A-R-G-O in big block letters. Holiday Lights Return to Florida Botanical Gardens

The annual holiday lights display at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo runs from Nov. 23 through Jan. 1.

More than 500,000 lights will sparkle in the Florida Botanical Gardens this holiday season. The 12th annual Holiday Lights in the Garden runs nightly from Nov. 23 through Jan. 1 in Largo. Expect the spectacular annual display to be more colorful. The holiday light display's new contractor redesigned the color layout and added more color to the Palm Garden and Tropical Garden, wrote Terry Berube of the Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation in an email. The holiday light display will have new laser lights, new fountains for the McKay Creek and a new motif for the wall fountain. Photos: The Best Holiday Lights in Tampa Bay

The votes are in, and seven Florida homes were named town winners in Patch's Deck The House contest.

We asked, and Patch readers answered: Seven Florida homes have been honored as town winners in Patch's Deck The House holiday lights contest. The winning entries came from Patch readers in Bradenton, Carrollwood, Dunedin, Gulfport, Palm Harbor, Seminole Heights and Temple Terrace. (See photos of the winning homes above.) Of those seven homes, John Banacki's home in Palm Harbor has been chosen as one of 24 national finalists in the contest. The Banackis have won $500 toward their December electric bill, and they're in the running for the national grand prize, a $100,000 donation from Patch to the public school district where the winner lives. Weekend Things to Do: Holiday Lights, Follow Santa, Holiday Movies

Largo has beautiful holiday lights-- we have highlighted a few of the displays. Plus, follow Santa on Christmas Eve or catch a new movie.

1. Lights of Lake Park Estates-  Follow three-miles of holiday lights and decorations in the neighborhoods of Lake Park Estates, Wieker, Lakeside Estates, and Lake Seminole Village. Here is a map to follow.The lights started in 1993 as a memorial to Lake Park Estates' neighbor Ruby Dow. Donations benefit Suncoast Hospice as a thank you for the care Dow received from them.  2.  Holiday Lights in the Gardens- More than 500,000 lights illuminate the thousands of plants and trees in the Florida Botanical Gardens. Enjoy refreshments and entertainment each night. Here is the performer/special entertainment schedule .
