An elderly woman died after being hit by two vehicles around 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening on Seminole Boulevard. The 82-year-old woman, Margaret Wix, crossed 12945 Seminole Boulevard in the center northbound lane. She was hit by a passenger car, then struck by a second vehicle that reportedly fled the scene, according to Lt. Mike Loux of the Largo Police Department. The driver of the second vehicle, Neil David Habgood, 31, of St. Petersburg, returned to the scene of the accident about an hour later, Loux said. Habgood was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death. Detectives continued to search Oct. 12 for a suspect's vehicle around the Seminole neighborhood where a Dunedin woman was injured in a hit and run Wednesday afternoon. Barbara Gaymore, 76, of Dunedin, was walking with a blue suitcase on Wednesday on Starkey Road just north of Park Boulevard in Seminole near the Perkins Restaurant, said Pinellas County Sheriff spokeswoman Cecelia Barreda. Gaymore was "seriously hurt" with mutiple fractures and a head injury, Barreda said. On Friday afternoon, detectives from the Major Accident Investigation Team canvassed the neighborhood east of Starkey Road, near where a school crossing guard saw the suspect vehicle turn, Barreda said. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office needs the public's help locating a truck, which reportedly hit a Dunedin woman in Seminole Wednesday. Authorities released Thursday morning an image of the truck from a PSTA bus camera that was in the area at the time of the crash. The vehicle is described as a white, small late model pick-up truck. The truck may have a chrome rear bumper and may be an American-made vehicle. Deputies say the vehicle may possibly be a white Ford Ranger with an extended cab. The truck is believed to have front right side damage, according to a news release. The Largo Police continue to sort out the details of an early morning crash near 66th St. North and 142nd Avenue.
A woman was seriously injured and taken to Bayfront Hospital in a crash that occurred around 1 a.m. this morning. Two children, who were also in the black Chevy Cobalt with the woman, were transported to the hospital as well, said Lt. Mike Loux of the Largo Police Department. The reason for the crash between the black car and a white Escalade is uncertain. The parties involved gave the police conflicting statements, Loux said. Someone driving the white vehicle turned in front of the black car heading south on 66th Street North and "t-boned" the vehicle, ABC Action News reported based on preliminary information. A truck hit the14-year-old boy in a crosswalk, according to police.
The teen was crossing the intersection of Ulmerton Road and Seminole Boulevard just before 10 p.m. Thursday night on his bicycle. The boy was in the crosswalk, when he was hit by a pick up truck that left the scene of the accident, according to police. The child is listed in critical condition at a local hospital. His identity is not being released at this time. Witnesses described the vehicle as an older model full-sized pick up truck with a roll bar and yellow lights on the roof. The vehicle color is dark and there should be damage to the driver's side front end. Police are seeking help in locating the suspect vehicle in this case. Ellen Sweeney, of Largo, died March 17 as a result of injuries sustained from a hit and run accident near a busy Clearwater intersection.
The reward for information leading to the other driver involved in a hit and run accident March 15 is now $8,500. Crime stoppers is offering $1,000 and the family of Ellen Sweeney, who died as a result of the accident near Belcher and Gulf to Bay Blvd, have already offered $7,500 for information leading to the suspect. Police believe a silver or gray pickup truck, possibly a 2005 Dodge with tinted windows, was involved in the accident. It would have damage to the rear quarter panel and back end, according to Clearwater Police. The truck, which was heading north on Belcher Road, turned left in front of Sweeney, who was traveling south. Sweeney, of Largo, was unable to manuever her Toyota around the truck.
