After leaving a Largo bar early Friday morning, a woman died after she was ejected out of the back of a truck bed, according to authorities.
A woman died after she was ejected out of the back of a pickup truck after leaving the Watering Trough Bar on 66th Street in Largo early Friday, according to a media release. Russell Allan Clark, 24, had four passengers in his Ford F150 as the group left the bar. Three women, including Lauren Elizabeth Gifford, 23, rode in the back of the pickup truck bed, according to a media release. "Clark began driving erratically, traveling over the 66th Street median and then over a curb in the RaceTrac parking lot," the release states. "The bump over the curb caused the back of the pickup to jump, ejecting Lauren out the back, where she landed on the pavement." Community members created a roadside memorial to a child who died on Sunday.
Neighbors are remembering a local child who was run over Sunday as he pushed himself down the driveway on his skateboard into the street, according to Largo Police. On Monday afternoon, community members had placed stuffed toys, a candle and flowers near where 8-year-old Elijah Ryan Crayton was struck. Outside the child's home, when asked how the family was doing, his uncle simply said they are "doing." A couple neighbors shared memories of Elijah. "Elijah was really adorable. He would lie flat on his skateboard like he was paddling a surfboard" as he rode the sidewalk near his Parkview Lane home, said neighbor Bill Reichold. According to Pinellas Park Police, one man was killed in an early morning crash, which closed part of U.S. 19 near Bryan Dairy for several hours Thursday.
A motorcyclist died in a Nov. 15 crash in the 12000 Block of U.S. 19 in Pinellas Park, according to a post on the Pinellas Park Police Department Facebook page. Pinellas Park emergency officials were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and car on U.S. 19 early Thursday morning, police said. A preliminary investigation has determined Geoffrey Burton, 53, of Palm Harbor, was killed in the accident as he was headed northbound on U.S. 19 around 3 a.m. Burton's 2007 Suzuki motorcycle reportedly collided with a northbound 2004 Dodge Intrepid driven by Brian Winthrop, 32, of Holiday, police report. The two-vehicle accident occurred Sunday at the intersection of Roosevelt and Bradford in the Highpoint Area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A Largo motorist collided with a bicycle on Roosevelt Boulevard Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Quinten Canty, 25, of Clearwater was riding his Mt. Fury Bicycle on Roosevelt near the intersection with Bradford Street. Canty tried to cross Roosevelt and failed to yield to oncoming westbound traffic, according to the accident report. Canty went into the path of the Mercedes driven by Anastasios F. Poulakis, 58, of Largo. The bicycle crashed into the front of the car, according to the accident report. Canty was injured critically and transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died from the injuries sustained in the crash, according to the report. The incident remains under investigation. A head-on collision Monday night resulted in one person dead and another seriously injured, according to state troopers.
A Plymouth Voyager was headed southbound on the ramp to US 19 from Ulmerton Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday night. Then the Voyager's driver, George Wesley Ivey, 37, of St. Petersburg made a U-turn at the end of the ramp, state troopers said. The Voyager collided with a Suzuki Vitara driven by Jasmin Keyes, 28, of Largo. Keyes was traveling in the center lane of US 19. The Voyager flipped over and came to rest on its roof. After the initial crash, the Suzuki hit the right side of a Dodge Caravan traveling next to it on US 19, according to troopers. Ivey was ejected from the Voyager and died at the scene.
