Largo Celebrates Tampa Bay Beer Week

Willard's Tap House, Barley Mow Brewing and lots of other nearby locations are raising a glass in honor of Tampa Bay Beer Week 2013. Check out the full events schedule here.

Tampa Bay Beer Week is almost here, and Largo knows how to celebrate. Several local establishments, including Willard's Tap House and Barley Mow Brewing, have events planned in honor of area beer lovers' favorite week, which officially lasts from March 2-10. We're presenting here the full calendar of events that will be happening all over Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough counties, so put on your beer goggles and check them out. Touch-a-Truck and Florida Clown Event This Saturday at Largo Central Park

The annual event features vehicles to interact with, clowns and family friendly activities.

Are you ready to climb aboard a fire truck, check out a helicopter while it’s on the ground or watch a bunch of clowns perform silly tricks? If so, you’ll want to head to Largo Central Park on Saturday, Feb. 9, for the 18th annual Touch-a-Truck and Florida Clown Day, a family friendly event that’s suitable for kids of all ages. The free event kicks off at 11 a.m. and will feature dozens of vehicles that visitors can interact with, including fire trucks, dump trucks, motorcycles, buses and 18-wheelers. In addition, there will be more than 100 clowns from all over the state present, courtesy of the Uptown Clown Alley. They will be entertaining the crowd with balloon animals, face paining and a slew of silly clown tricks.  This year the event…

Pinellas Paws Cause is Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Celebrate the holidays with your four-legged friends at Pinellas County Animal Services. The tail-wagging fun includes photos with Santa Paws, a food truck rally, pet-themed merchandise, music, and more. Looking for a special 'fur'ever friend? There will be adoption specials, animal rescue groups and rabies vaccination specials at the event. Largo to Remember September 11 in Special Invocation

The City of Largo will hold a remembrance for 9/11 during Tuesday's commission work session.

Tuesday's Largo City Commission work session will begin with a 9/11 Remembrance led by Police Chaplain Phillip Gray. The work session starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the Commission Chamber of City Hall. Other Tampa Bay area events include a memorial honoring the victims of the Sept. 11 that will be unveiled at a special ceremony at the Curlew Hills Memory Garden at 10 a.m. Sept. 11 in Palm Harbor. The public is invited to attend. Firefighters and friends will honor the fallen at a special North County event from 12:30-5:30 p.m. in Clearwater at the Tilted Kilt. How will you remember 9/11? 1. Gracie's Big Splash. This splashing fun event includes water slides, games, activities, music and a bake sale and is a fundraiser originally created for for Gracie Purdy who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2007 and died ten months later. The fundraiser continues to help other families with children with life-threatening illnesses. 2. Garage Sale & Health Fair in Largo. Pack up everything and bring it to the garage sale at the Southwest Recreation Complex (tables are still available) or come and browse the sale. 1. The Music Man Junior. The Music Man Junior is part of the Largo Cultural Center summer theatre camps. This production will be performed by camp participants ages from 12 through 18. 2. Photos: Splash's Treasure Hunt Provides Fun in the Sun

Splash's Treasure Hunt proved to be quite a fun event for children and families on Saturday at Southwest Pool.

Kids age ten and under had a chance to partake in a treasure hunt and board a pirate ship at the Southwest Pool this past weekend in Largo from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event was hosted by Largo Aquatics. Visits with Ye Mystic Krewe of the Santa Margarita Pirates were a hit and swim lessons were also provided.  Free hot dogs and and Chick-Fil-A sandwiches were provided for guests in addition to free chair massages, which many parents enjoyed. Door prizes were given in addition to goodie bags for kids.
