Anthony's Sells Old-Time Fresh Deli Foods

Anthony's Deli Warehouse on Clearwater-Largo Road sells bread, meat, cheese, olives and much more.

Walking into Anthony's Deli Warehouse is like stepping back in time 30 years, and that's the way owners Joey Leo and Paul Mendel like it. The Clearwater-Largo Road business sells bread, meat, cheese, olives and much more. "We are a small old-time business. We make our own mozzarella fresh. We grind our sausage fresh. Everything is old time except there's no sawdust on the floor," Mendel said. "Everything is sliced and made to order ... and wrapped in butcher paper." Jars of olives with ladles line one wall, and a counter is filled with lasagna, fresh mozzarella, pasta salad, clam shells and other home-style-prepared foods. Pastry, bread, noodles and other staples fill shelves. Sandwiches can be made to order. The deli meats, which are …

A new Largo grocery store and deli offers a wide selection of food from the Middle East.

A new Largo grocery store and deli provides the community with flavorful and healthy foods from the Middle East. Sahara Mediterranean Foods & Deli, on West Bay Drive, sells a wide selection of foods from the Middle East, Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey.  "People like the healthy foods like tabouli, gyros, falafel and grape leaves," said Sahara co-owner Omar Younes. Younes, who is from Lebanon, loves sharing specialties from his home region with the greater Largo and Belleair Bluffs community. Sahara's deli counter offers hot pita wraps including gyros, broiled chicken pitas, kebabs, Greek salads, hummus, meat platters, freshly baked vegetarian pies and more. Frida's Offers Delicious Fresh Food and Treats in Largo

Frida's offers a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, soups and baked goods.

Frida's, a well-known bakery and cafe on Ulmerton Road, offers a great variety of sandwiches, breakfast crepes, salads, soups and baked goods. Plus, the spacious cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with free WiFi available. With so many items on the menu — such as the cranberry maple ham sandwich, chicken quesadilla panini, fresh beets salad and soups of the day — it sometimes hard to pick just one item to eat. Hooray for the combos, which offer patrons the choice of picking two items. The Caesar salad and turkey with smoked gouda panini combo was delicious. The fresh salad greens were crisp. The panini was flavorful, especially with the smoked cheese. The combo cost $7.69. Frida's offers gluten-free bread and special menu items…

Ippolito's Italian Deli

Heart meets heritage in this family-owned deli, which offers homemade Italian specialties at reasonable prices.

Walk into Ippolito's Italian Deli, and you'll instantly feel at home. The owner, Ippolito Stanganelli, offers a big hello. A row of Italian canned and dry goods line the store, making it a cozy storefront filled with staples like olive oil, pasta and bread. Deli cases are filled with Boar's Head meats and cheeses, Italian cheeses, olives and the owner's homemade sausage. Ippolito’s is known for handmade sausage ($4.50 per pound). The sausages are hot and sweet, and a smaller sausage is made with cheese. “That’s the main thing that people come in for. It’s traditional sausage, nothing fancy,” Stanganelli said. “Ours don’t have any fillers. A lot of the big retailers use fillers and they charge more money for them. We don't believe in that. …

Food Review: The Deli Diva

The Deli Diva's owner and chef, Anne Money Buck, knows her stuff when it comes to the deli business. She cooks up recipes passed down from three generations of deli chefs.

Located in downtown Largo on the old cobbled streets lies a small, yellow shack called The Deli Diva.  This New York style deli, owned by "diva" Anne Money Buck and the "deli dude" Robert Buck, serves-up a mean lunch. Open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., it caters to the business crowd. This is no ordinary deli. Anne Money Buck knows her stuff when it comes to the deli business. After all she's a third generation deli cook. Everything on the menu is made fresh daily. It's the type of cooking that you know someone spent hours making and preparing as a labor of love. Their signature dish is the pastrami. Every morning at 3 a.m. the Buck's begin the curing process. It's a secret recipe passed down from Anne Money Buck's …
