Finley's Hosts Fundraiser to Benefit Local Family Tuesday

The benefit will help the family of a Largo man who died in a car crash Dec. 26.

Finley's Irish Pub is hosting a benefit Jan. 29 to help the wife and young children of a Largo man who died in a car crash Dec. 26 in Tennessee, said Finley's owner Mark Ternes. The fundraiser, which starts at 5:30 p.m., will include appetizers and a silent auction with gift baskets collected from local businesses, said Carmen Abadji, who is helping with the fundraiser. The fundraiser is being organized by Applebee's co-workers of Melissa Johnson, who lost her husband Chris on Dec. 26, Abadji said. "She's a good friend and a great person, anything I can do to help," Abadji said. The Johnson family went up to visit family around Christmas. They had only been in Tennessee a couple of hours when Chris and his brother-in-law went to get gas, …

Man Faces Manslaughter Charge In April 3 Graziano Crash

Cameron Bosley, the driver in an April crash that killed his passenger Michael Graziano, turned himself into authorities late Sunday when he learned a warrant was out for his arrest.

Cameron Bosley, the driver in an April crash that killed his passenger Michael Graziano, turned himself into authorities late Sunday when he learned a warrant was issued for his arrest. Bosley, 25, of Dunedin, was arrested and charged with felony DUI manslaughter. He was released Monday afternoon on $10,000 bond.  Graziano, 24, of Dunedin, was riding with Bosley in his 1994 Volvo SW when it struck a dump truck at a high speed on April 3. Graziano died as a result of his injuries on April 13. Bosley's blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.174 at the time of the crash, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Largo Man Dies in I-75 Crash

Christian Nicholas Reimer was headed north on Interstate 75 in Pasco County when his car left the roadway, crashed into a tree and overturned, authorities said.

A 21-year-old Largo man was killed when his car hit a tree and overturned on the side of a Pasco County roadway early Thursday morning, authorities said. Christian Nicholas Reimer was headed north on Interstate 75, just south of State Road 52, at about 12:50 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Reimer's Pontiac Grand Am traveled into the center grass lane "for unknown reasons," investigators said, at which point he over-corrected to the right. His car traveled back across the northbound lanes and onto the outside grass shoulder, where it crashed into a tree and overturned. Reimer suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, the FHP reports. The incident remains under investigation.

Man, 81, Killed After His Car Crosses Divider in Largo

Brower B. Yeger Jr., of Clearwater, is suspected to have suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his car and cross into oncoming traffic on Whitney Road on Monday morning, authorities said.

An 81-year-old Clearwater man died after his car crossed a lane divider on Whitney Road in Largo and was hit head-on by another driver Monday morning, investigators said. Brower B. Yeger, Jr. was headed westbound on Whitney, just east of 62nd Street, around 7:30 a.m. when his 2001 Nissan crossed into the opposite lane, the Florida Highway Patrol reports. He was hit by a Dodge van, whose driver hit the breaks but still crashed head-on into Yeger's car. Yeger was taken to Largo Medical Center and later died, investigators said. He is suspected to have suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his car, according to the accident report. Roosevelt Boulevard Bicycle Fatality Under Investigation

The two-vehicle accident occurred Sunday at the intersection of Roosevelt and Bradford in the Highpoint Area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Largo motorist collided with a bicycle on Roosevelt Boulevard Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Quinten Canty, 25, of Clearwater was riding his Mt. Fury Bicycle on Roosevelt near the intersection with Bradford Street. Canty tried to cross Roosevelt and failed to yield to oncoming westbound traffic, according to the accident report. Canty went into the path of the Mercedes driven by Anastasios F. Poulakis, 58, of Largo. The bicycle crashed into the front of the car, according to the accident report. Canty was injured critically and transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died from the injuries sustained in the crash, according to the report. The incident remains under investigation. Beer Truck Crash Closes Eastbound Lanes of Gandy Bridge

The truck hit a concrete barrier on the bridge.

Eastbound lanes of the the Gandy Bridge are shut down due to a traffic crash, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.  A single vehicle crash involving a beer truck has caused the closure. Rollover Crash Near St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Halts Traffic

It took about 20 minutes to extricate the driver, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A rollover crash in front of the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport tied up traffic for about an hour starting around 3 p.m. Tuesday, fire officials said. Firefighters from the Pinellas Park and Largo fire departments, as well as from the airport's fire department, spent about 20 minutes extricating the driver of a 2003 Jeep. Paramedics said the injuries were not life threatening, and the driver was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. The driver of a large delivery truck that was also involved in the crash was not injured. Eastbound traffic on Roosevelt Boulevard was rerouted around the airport, officials said. Traffic was reopened around 4:15 p.m. Air traffic was not interrupted, according to officials.

Largo Teen Driver Dies After Fiery I-75 Crash

Aria Karina Curad Mallari, 17, suffered critical injuries Friday evening and later died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Largo teenager who was critically injured in a crash that shut down Interstate 75 on Friday in the Wesley Chapel area has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Aria Karina Curad Mallari, 17, was traveling southbound on I-75, south of State Road 54, around 5:30 p.m. Friday when she lost control of her 2008 Honda Civic, FHP investigators said. The Civic crossed the median and went into the northbound lanes, striking a Chevy pickup driven by Kyle Mansfield, 25, of Hernando County. Mansfield’s pickup then collided with a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Christina Penner, 46, of Largo. The Civic split into two section and subsequently caught on fire. Updated, July 21: The Largo teenager who was critically injured in Friday's crash has died from her injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
