7-Eleven Now Open by Largo Central Park

The new 7-Eleven store is now open at 10 North Missouri Ave.

The new 7-Eleven opened Jan. 4. The location is open 24 hours daily. The new convenience store and gas station is located at the busy corner of East Bay Drive and North Missouri Avenue.  The 7-Eleven is in the former location of Metro Gas, which was previously a Citgo station. The new store has 7-Eleven's usual line of popular drinks like Big Gulps and Slurpees, plus sandwiches, salads, hot foods and grill products. The 7-Eleven is not the only new gas station in town. Thorntons Opening Soon in Largo

The convenience store and gas station is set to open Dec. 30, according to a company spokeswoman.

Thorntons, a new gas station and convenience store, will open Dec. 30 in Largo, according to company spokeswoman Erin Jones. Construction crews continue to work on the store at the northeast corner of the intersection of Ulmerton and Starkey roads. The Largo Thorntons is part of the planned expansion of the chain into the Tampa Bay market. Thorntons has 166 locations in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Thorntons is known for its wide selection of fountain drinks where customers can add a choice of flavor shots and choose different types of ice. The store is expected to open in December, according to Margaret Chabris of 7-Eleven. The new convenience store and gas station is going in the former location of Metro Gas, which was previously a Citgo station. Can You ID This Suspected Wallet Thief?

The suspect is accused of taking a wallet from a customer's purse at a Largo convenience store in April, authorities said.

The Largo Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect accused of stealing a wallet out of a purse at a Largo convenience store. The suspect is seen on surveillance video reaching into a customer's purse at A.S. Food Mart, 1737 Indian Rocks Rd., on April 20. She took a wallet containing credit cards and about $900 in cash, police said. The victim tried to stop the suspect, who fled in a white, four-door older-model sedan. The suspect is described as a black woman, about 20 to 30 years old, between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-5 and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. (See the attached photos.) Thorntons Coming to Ulmerton and Starkey

Thornton's is coming to Largo. The 3,000 to 4,000 square-foot gas station and convenience store is planned on the site of a now empty night club at the intersection of Ulmerton and Starkey. Thorntons is known for its wide selection of fountain drinks where customers can add a choice of flavor shots and choose different types of ice. The Largo location is currently in the planning stage. Assuming the process continues at the current pace, plans could be complete within 45 days, according to the community development department. The Beverage House in Largo sells beer and wine plus a wide assortment of “storm supplies.”

A new convenience store recently opened on East Bay Drive in Largo, providing a much-needed alternative to the chain stores and tiny quick marts that populate the area.  The Beverage House is a clean, modern, spacious establishment that carries everything from alcohol to grilling supplies, with all the traditional convenience store items available as well.  Located a block west of Starkey Road, the store is in the same building that housed a number of tanning salons over the past few years, and the owners are doing some intriguing things to help get the word out about their new place.  “We have wine tastings every Saturday, we’re doing promotional giveaways every month, we have a large craft beer selection ... we even have beer pong,” …
