City Commission Will Consider Incentives for Businesses for Redevelopment

The Largo City Commission will look at more ways to encourage redevelopment of West Bay Drive at tonight's commission workshop session.

The Largo City Commission will consider an early sign replacement incentive program for the West Bay Drive area at tonight's workshop session. The commission will also review other incentives tonight to encourage community redevelopment in Largo's downtown area, such as office building development and targeted job creation to support the use of new and existing downtown office space. The possible early sign incentive program is part of a city-wide goal to replace non-conforming pole signs with monument signs by June 5, 2017. When the city created its new sign ordinance in 2007, it provided a 10-year timeframe for businesses to comply. Largo City Commission

City Commission Approves McDonald's One-Story Plan

The City of Largo and McDonald's worked together to develop plans for a new restaurant, which met community redevelopment guidelines.

McDonald's is working on nationwide improvements to its restaurants. As a part of that effort, McDonald's plans to rebuild its West Bay Drive site. Because of the restaurant's location in the community redevelopment area, some special approvals have been required by the city commission. The proposed new building will be 4,365 square-foot. The restaurant will have side-by-side drive-…
