The new 7-Eleven store is now open at 10 North Missouri Ave.
The new 7-Eleven opened Jan. 4. The location is open 24 hours daily. The new convenience store and gas station is located at the busy corner of East Bay Drive and North Missouri Avenue. The 7-Eleven is in the former location of Metro Gas, which was previously a Citgo station. The new store has 7-Eleven's usual line of popular drinks like Big Gulps and Slurpees, plus sandwiches, salads, hot foods and grill products. The 7-Eleven is not the only new gas station in town. The creation of a development agreement, for a proposed apartment complex near the Largo Mall, would allow nearby property owner's the opportunity to give more input in the design of the complex, the city reports.
The Briarwood RV Park owner has agreed to address issues and concerns raised by neighbors regarding a proposed 260-unit apartment complex through a development agreement (DA) process with the city, reports Largo Principal Planner Jesus Niño. Neighbors and nearby property owners voiced concerns about the proposed apartment project, such as increased traffic and possible view obstruction. Neighbors wanted an opportunity to look at site plans once they are developed, also. The property owner wants to change the land use of the current RV park to Residential High with a density of 19 units per acre, to allow for the development of the 260-unit apartment complex. The City of Largo issued a development order recently for a planned apartment complex near US 19 and Roosevelt Boulevard.
Largo approved plans recently for the Pollack Shore Real Estate Group to begin construction for a 342-unit apartment complex near US 19 and Roosevelt Boulevard. The developer plans to start building the market rate apartment complex soon. The construction should be complete within 14 months, according to Largo Principal Planner, Jesus Niño. The new apartment complex is part of the overall development plan at the Crossroads site, which includes a proposed new Walmart and a planned bus transfer station. Construction has started for a new Dollar General store near the Largo Mall.
Largo is getting another Dollar General store. Just south of the Fireplace Restaurant, construction has started on the proposed 9,100-square-foot retail store. The new Largo store will be larger than the typical Dollar General Store. Most of the chain's 10,000 stores are 7,200 square feet, according to its website. The construction process typically takes about six months, according to a construction contractor at the work site at 12500 Seminole Blvd. There are three other Dollar General locations in Largo. The convenience store and gas station is set to open Dec. 30, according to a company spokeswoman.
Thorntons, a new gas station and convenience store, will open Dec. 30 in Largo, according to company spokeswoman Erin Jones. Construction crews continue to work on the store at the northeast corner of the intersection of Ulmerton and Starkey roads. The Largo Thorntons is part of the planned expansion of the chain into the Tampa Bay market. Thorntons has 166 locations in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Thorntons is known for its wide selection of fountain drinks where customers can add a choice of flavor shots and choose different types of ice. Plans are moving forward to bring Pinellas County's first Whole Foods Market to Westfield Countryside Mall, officials with the mall confirmed recently. “From what we have seen and are allowed to speak about, Sears is working directly with (Whole Foods),” said Lauren Clark, spokeswoman with Westfield Countryside Mall. “We don’t have a date on exactly but we do know they are looking to move forward.” Whole Foods officials said they do not have a specific location in mind yet but are planning to open a store in Clearwater sometime in 2014. Five new homes will be built in a former mobile home park, according to Largo Housing Manager Matt Anderson.
The first home is under construction in a proposed five-home affordable housing community in the Eleanor Oaks subdivision on Fourth Avenue Northeast in Largo. The City of Largo is working with the Largo Area Housing Development Corporation to turn a "dilapidated" mobile home park into a affordable housing community. Previously, the mobile home park's residents were provided assistance in relocating, and the mobile homes were demolished, Largo Housing Manager Matt Anderson reports.
