Man Dies After Flipping Car, Hitting Utility Pole in Largo

The accident happened late Saturday night on a U.S. 19 North frontage road, investigators said.

A Clearwater man has died after he struck a utility pole and flipped his car late Saturday night in Largo, police said. John J. Taborda, 31, was headed northbound "at a high rate of speed" on a U.S. 19 North frontage road just north of Roosevelt Boulevard when he lost control of his 2007 Chevrolet Impala, according to Largo Police. Officers responded just after 11:30 p.m. to the scene, where the car had struck a utility pole as it flipped upside down. Taborda died at the scene, officials said. He was the car's only occupant. Update: Seminole Boulevard Reopened After Rollover Crash, Authorities Say

Part of Seminole Boulevard was closed at 110th Avenue, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE, AUG. 29 10:00 a.m.: Part of Seminole Boulevard was closed for about 90 minutes Tuesday afternoon because of a two-car crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.  The driver of a Nissan Maxima, Allan James Carter, 29, allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a Nissan Frontier at the intersection of Seminole and 110th Avenue. The impact apparently caused the Frontier to flip over on its right side, according to a prelimary report from the FHP. The driver of the Frontier, Alan B. Warner, 65, and Carter were both transported to Bayfront Hospital.  The crash remains under investigation and details from this incident may change, according to FHP. SUV Crashes Through Pinellas Park Living Room

After hitting a utility pole, a Clearwater man's SUV went into the front of a home, authorities said.

According to police, early this morning two Pinellas Park residents and their dogs woke up to a vehicle driving into their living room. A Pinellas Park Police investigation found Herbert Bireley, 57, was headed northbound on 100th Avenue when his Ford Explorer left the roadway and hit a utility pole. The SUV kept going and hit a house. The family was asleep in a bedroom and they were not injured, according to police. Bireley was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries, according to police. Bireley was issued with citations for careless driving and driving with a suspended license without knowledge, according to police.

Authorities Investigate Fatal Accident on US 19 and Ulmerton Road

A head-on collision Monday night resulted in one person dead and another seriously injured, according to state troopers.

A Plymouth Voyager was headed southbound on the ramp to US 19 from Ulmerton Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday night. Then the Voyager's driver, George Wesley Ivey, 37, of St. Petersburg made a U-turn at the end of the ramp, state troopers said. The Voyager collided with a Suzuki Vitara driven by Jasmin Keyes, 28, of Largo. Keyes was traveling in the center lane of US 19. The Voyager flipped over and came to rest on its roof. After the initial crash, the Suzuki hit the right side of a Dodge Caravan traveling next to it on US 19, according to troopers. Ivey was ejected from the Voyager and died at the scene. Keyes was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Caravan, Sandra Schrotenboer, 55, of St. …

Two Injured in Overnight Crash on Ulmerton Road

Two men are hospitalized after a dump truck and car collided, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

A Volvo crashed into a dump truck on Ulmerton Road and 66th St North around 2:30 a.m. today. The car was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver tried to change lanes and pass the truck. The car hit the back of the truck, according to a Florida Highway Patrol release. Volvo passenger Michael Edward Graziano, 23,  and driver Cameron Bosley, 24, both of Dunedin, were taken to Bayfront Medical Center. Graziano's injuries were critical and Bosley's injuries were serious. The driver of the truck, Steven Edward Brady, 57, of Lakeland, was not injured in the crash, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Largo Motorist Dies in Car Crash

The 62-year-old woman was traveling west on 16th Avenue SE, when the vehicle drove off the road and into a ditch.

A 62-year-old Largo driver died Saturday night when her Dodge Nitro overturned and hit a wooden pole on 16th Avenue SE. Monica Vieu died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash, which occureed at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Investigators are trying to determine why the Dodge Nitro veered off 16th Avenue SE, just east of Twin Oak Drive, and plowed into a drainage ditch before flipping over.
