The eatery located in the former Crispers building serves fresh, healthy foods in generous portions.
Proino Breakfast Club, a Canadian based franchise that specializes in fruit-filled, hearty plates, recently opened in the West Bay Village complex on West Bay Drive. The spacious restaurant inhabits the space formerly occupied by Crispers, and officials are hoping to fill the dining room on a regular basis. One look at the extensive menu, which is chock full with more than 100 breakfast and light lunch offerings, and it’s easy to see that Proino has something for everyone. “We have omelettes, French toast, eggs, smoothies, bagels, and all of our meals come with fruit,” manager Irene Tamvakos said. “It’s not specifically a Canadian breakfast – breakfast is breakfast.” Tamvakos said what sets Proino apart from other establishments is the …

Cosmo's Cafe offers homestyle cooking for breakfast and lunch.
In the mood for a bowl of chili, Patch stopped by Cosmo's Cafe recently. The eatery is known for its homestyle soups and daily specials. The restaurant, in a shopping plaza just south of Ulmerton Road, serves breakfast all day. Other options include: daily specials, soups, subs, wraps, club sandwiches, quesadillas, burgers, and salads. Everything is homemade. Every day Cosmo's Cafe prepares homestyle chili and soups. The hearty bowl of chili with cheese and onions was $3.21 with tax. The chili was zesty without being overpowering. The daily soup selections were cream of broccoli and chicken noodle. Have a heartier appetite? The daily specials were $5.95 on a recent visit. Choices included chicken parmesan with pasta and garlic bread and …

Santa added many names to his "nice" list at the annual Breakfast with Santa at the Highland Recreation Complex.
Wide-eyed children watched as Santa walked through the doors of the Highland Recreation Complex. Some greeted him with hugs and other children slid behind mom or dad unsure of the long, white beard and bright, red suit. About 250 children had the opportunity to have a photo with Santa and share their Christmas wishes this past weekend on Friday or Saturday morning at the annual Breakfast with Santa. Santa's elves served up plates of pancakes and sausage from IHOP. Plus, children made ornaments, picture frames and cards.

The popular Fourth Street eatery debuts its Indian Rocks Road location this weekend.
St. Pete Bagel Co., a staple of the Fourth Street breakfast scene for nearly 25 years, is bringing its award-winning, New York-style bagels to Largo. The restaurant, which opened in 1987, will open the doors at its new location at 11987 Indian Rocks Road, the former home of Gram’s Old Fashioned Donuts, on Saturday morning. Owner Renata Plevova is anxious to debut the first offshoot of her popular St. Pete eatery in the Largo area, and she has been encouraged by the reception she has already received. “We had been looking for a new location for about a year,” she said before the grand opening. “We thought about Pasadena, Gulfport, somewhere closer to our other store. But this place feels right.” “There are very friendly people here. They…

Marsha I must say I agree......... proper procedures are everything and when you are promoting a "new" business things are going to happen. But the way you handle them is what can make or break you. Thus far I have heard several comments of the same nature. When you are paying $8.00 to $11.00 for breakfast the least they could do is listen to your concerns.   more ›
