New Congress, New District Number, New Phone Number

U.S. Rep. C. W. Bill Young has been sworn into the new 113th Congress this month as the Representative of the newly numbered 13th Congressional District of Florida. Young also has a new phone number for his Pinellas County District office located in Seminole. The phone number is 727-392-4100. “It is a great honor to represent the people of Pinellas County and with the beginning of this new Congress, we face many important issues,” Young said.  “I value the opinions of the people who have elected me to serve them and I hope they will continue to share their thoughts with me through their calls, their letters and their e-mails.” Under the Constitution, state legislatures redraw Congressional District boundaries every 10 years to reflect …

Authorities Looking for Missing Endangered Largo Man

Robert E. Dulin, 58, who has physical and mental disabilities, was last seen leaving U.S. Bill Young's office earlier this week, detectives say.

Authorities are searching for a missing Largo man who they say could be in danger. Robert E. Dulin, 58, was last seen around 11 a.m. Dec. 4 leaving U.S. Rep. Bill Young's office in Seminole, which he reportedly frequents. "Dulin is believed to be endangered, due to his physical and mental disabilities," a sheriff's office spokesperson said in a media release Friday. Dulin walks with a gait (bent elbow with arm close to his body and one or two fingers pointing outward) and has a cranium abnormality and a false eye from injuries sustained in car accident in the 1970s, authorities said. Dulin's last known address was at the Pine Tree Manor Assisted Living Facility on 131st Street North in Largo. He was reported missing by the facility's …

Late Largo Soldier's Letter Changed Congressman's Mind on War

Matt Sitton wrote to U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young about his concerns regarding improvised explosive devices in Afghanistan. Last month, he was killed by one.

A letter from a Largo soldier who was killed in action in Afghanistan helped change a Congressman's position on the war, TBO.com reports. U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Matt Sitton wrote to U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who attended the same Largo church, regarding his concerns about his men being forced to walk through fields full of improvised explosive devices, according to TBO. Sitton, 26, was killed by an IED last month. Since then, Young has reversed his position on Afghanistan — in part, he says, because of Sitton's letter. As TBO reports: In a position opposite that held by most leaders of his party, the influential Republican is now calling for U.S. troops to leave the country ahead of the 2014 deadline called for by President Barack Obama. …

It's important to look at the positive that young is doing now, but he got the email in June! Who is he trying to help now the soldiers or his own conscience? Was waged over ridiculous lies. I'm so happy my sons didn't fall for the bs high school recruiters wanted to feed them. And we are Americans and we are patriotic but people need to be taught other ways. Sink your own country financially and…   more ›

A sensible analysis by Mr Smith. It's time for Mr Rice to take his very comfy pension and, well, retire. Sheriff Gualtieri has done a fine job, and merits support for another term.   more ›

Man Told to 'Get a Job' by Rep. Young Speaks Out

Last week when Pepe Kovanis pressed Congressman Bill Young about minimum wage, Young told him to "get a job". Now Kovanis is asking for an apology from Rep. Young.

At the entrance of what will soon be a new Sam's Club on 34th Street Pepe Kovanis stood among supporters and the press asking for an apology from Congressman C.W. "Bill" Young.  "I would like an apology for not only myself but for low wage workers around the country," Kovanis told Patch. "I think he has insulted them with his remarks to ‘get a job’. I think that he has failed his responsibilities as a representative. He is suppose to listen to his constituents not belittle them." Last week, Kovanis was protesting for the increase of minimum wage. He pressed Young about minimum wage in Florida and was promptly told to "get a job" by Rep. Young. The video of the exchange went viral, which led to Young saying he did not understand the nature …

David, You miss the point. It's not how much of an economic benefit Bill Young has been to Pinellas. That's great, but that's not the issue here. Bill Young is out of touch with his constituents, an increasing percentage of whom are forced to rely on the 'public trough' (so now we're livestock?) to get by when their minimum-wage jobs fail to provide an adequate living.   more ›

The Republican congressman from Pinellas County's answer to a question about raising the minimum wage to $10 an hour has gone viral on YouTube.

A local Republican congressman's response to a question about the proposed minimum wage hike has gone viral on YouTube. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, of Indian Shores, whose District 10 includes most of Pinellas County, was asked earlier this week by a constituent whether he supported the proposed increase. The exchange, which was captured on video, was first highlighted by FLDemocracy and also reported by The Huffington Post: "Jesse Jackson Jr. is passing a bill around to increase the minimum wage to 10 bucks an hour. Would you support that?" said the voter.  "Probably not," replied Young, adding, "How about getting a job?" The young man has a job, as he told the congressman: "I do have one." He said he makes $8.50 an hour. "Well then, why do you…
