Largo Woman Shot in Neck; Alleged Shooter Apprehended
Authorities say a 19-year-old Largo man shot the woman during an attempted robbery at 135th Avenue North and was caught by deputies as he tried to flee.
A 19-year-old Largo man is in custody after deputies say he shot a woman in the neck while trying to rob her Friday night. A Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy patrolling the Coral Way neighborhood shortly after 7 p.m. Friday "heard what sounded like a gunshot, then a woman's scream for help," according to a media release from the sheriff's office. Deputies responded to a residence in the 3700 block of 135th Avenue North, where they discovered Brieonne Danielle Roiland, 30, screaming that she had been shot, officials said. The suspect, Trevon Lamar Griffin, was later caught running through a field a short distance away from the crime scene, according to the sheriff's office.
