Community Policing is also known as Patrol Operations. This department consists of patrolling deputies. They are the green and white cruisers patrolling the unincorporated areas of the county and are contracted by present 12 cities within the county. Its central office is in Largo at this location and its North District office is in Dunedin. The patrol operations department duties include community policing, traffic enforcement, DUI investigation, school resource officers, community services and crime prevention. It also has a Sheriff's Marine Unit, Flight Section, K-9 teams and an Environmental Lands Unit.
