This Week in Largo: National Night Out, Highland Rec Wins Award

National Night Out in Largo

Join the Largo Police Department in celebrating the 30th Anniversary of National Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Target at Largo Mall, 10500 Ulmerton Road.

National Night Out promotes awareness, support and participation in anti-crime efforts.

Join neighbors for fingerprinting, bike registration, kid's safety stations and free document shredding. There will also be a SWAT display, the mobile command vehicle and a visit by Largo Fire Rescue.

Highland Rec Wins Award

The Largo Mid-Pinellas Chamber of Commerce bestowed the "Silver Hammer" award to the city for the construction of the Highland Recreation Complex. 

The expansive replacement facility includes a three story indoor playground, expanded athletic space inside and out and fitness and party rooms.

Cheap Gas


Start the week off right with a tank of the cheapest gas in Largo. A gallon of regular unleaded is $3.18 at Stop N Karry, 801 Clearwater Largo Road, according to tampagasprices.com.

Obamacare Marketplaces Open

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, Tampa Bay area residents without insurance will be able to start reviewing health coverage options via an online marketplace. The federally run exchange is expected to go live Tuesday, offering residents coverage as promised by the Affordable Health Care Act, according to the Bradenton Herald. Flood Insurance Premiums Rise

Go on a Ghost Tour

Rain Chances Creeping Back In: While rain chances are low as the workweek kicks off, the National Weather Service says they are present. Expect highs in the low 90s as the week kicks off, too.
