Community Corner

Two Friends Give Back

Two local widows share their zest for life by giving back to the community.

Kay Hamlin, 86, and Ruth Buchanan, 81, are both very active in the community.

On weekdays, the two take turns driving to the Seminole Recreation Center for their morning exercise regimes.

On Monday and Tuesdays, the two complete their exercise workouts and head to the Bardmoor Publix and pack their car with donated excess groceries.  They  then drive the groceries to a  site at the Ridgecrest Community Center in Largo to help out needy folks.

Ruth is also a volunteer at the Seminole Public Library, serves on her condo board and is active in her church. Kay spends her down time helping her older sister with various chores.

Both ladies are very gregarious and are always laughing and brightening up the Seminole Recreation Center.
