Summer Readers Explore Weird and Haunted Florida

The Largo Public Library explores Florida, dreams big, and provides family fun in its summer reading program.

School's almost out! Are you ready to travel through books this summer?

The offers the opportunity to explore our home state in its Classic Florida Series.

  • Weird Florida for Kids. Explore the wonders of Florida with stories, trivia, music and crafts. For children ages 5-12 on June 8 at 2 p.m.
  • Florida Jeopardy. How well do you know Florida? The trivia program is June 8 at 3:30 p.m. Come show your knowledge of the Sunshine State!
  • Weird Florida for Teens. Hear kooky Florida laws, solve a funky, Florida city name puzzle and listen to weird Florida stories. For teens ages 13-18 on June 11 at 5 p.m.
  • Florida Freebies. Want to do some daytrips around the Sunshine State on the cheap this summer? Author Adele Woodyard shares her book Florida Freebies and Cheapies: 250 Daytrips for Little or No Money on June 23 at 2 p.m.
  • Haunted Florida. Ready for frightening Florida? This teen program features haunted stories, trivia and scary games on July 23 at 5 p.m.

The library offers weekly 'dream big' stories and a summer entertainer series!

I read in the paper that our governor turned down federal funds for mosquito eradication. DoesRead More anyone know if our mosquito control units are underfunded from this terrible decision by Governor Dumb-a-ss?

As usual government lied to us. They said if we switch over to reclaimed we will have water forRead More lawns whenever we wanted!!!!! NOT!!! Plus they didin't tell us that we would probably have to replace all valves in sprinkler system shortly after because this water isn't as clean and destroys them. You then have to put in different ones to accommodate the grit etc in the water. Same with the heads those little screens get clogged a lot more and need service more. So much for SAViNG $$$$$$ NOT
