Sardo's Pizza Offers Delicious, Brooklyn-Style Pizza at Affordable Prices

Restaurant review: Super Sardo's Pizza & Pasta is one stop you will want to make in Largo.

Driving down Ulmerton Road and through much of Largo, it's easy to miss great businesses that have been put behind traffic cones and road blocks.

is one of those that you should not miss.

From a glance, the restaurant doesn't seem too impressive. When you enter, it certainly has the neighborhood ambiance, with photos hanging on the walls and a game center for the kids in the back. The menu seems traditional, offering pizza by the slice or by the pie. A slice will range from around $2 to $5, while a pie can cost up to around $25.

I decided to go traditional and order a slice of pepperoni pizza, while my companion went with a traditional cheese slice.

The soda fountain had a good mix of seltzer and soda, and I found my root beer to be satisfactory. At first glance, the slices seemed like a regular pizza. Being a Brooklyn-style, thin-crust pizza, we had to fold the pizza in half to make it edible, which is always a fun experience. It only took one slice to get full.

The cheese was very gooey, as New York-style pizza should be, and it tasted great. The added pepperoni on my slice made it a little greasy, but I'll gladly add some grease for the great added that comes with it.

Overall, I was very impressed with the choice at Sardo's Pizza. It is not one of your typical pizza stops and serves ingredients that are step up from competitors. There are so many great independent pizza chains today, I see no point in supporting the big chains any further. Check out Sardo's for a great slice or pie.
