Largo High Head Baseball Coach Resigns

Dan Flynn stepped down this week after just two years behind the Packers' bench.

Largo High School head baseball coach Dan Flynn resigned from his position this week after just two years on the job.

Flynn took over as head coach in September 2011 after serving as an assistant for two years under the previous coach.

When contacted by Largo Patch, Flynn cited the lack of assistant coaches for the program as the major reason why he decided to step down.

"Since taking over as head coach two years ago, we have built a strong foundation that promises to grow for years to come," Flynn wrote in an email to Patch.

"I was not able to secure a full coaching staff for this coming year, so I felt it best to allow the school to bring in a new head coach whom will bring a coaching staff."

Flynn, who also serves as the head coach for the LHS girls varsity soccer team, went on to say he hopes to continue his career as an assistant coach with the program if the new coach will allow it.

In Flynn's two seasons, Largo had a record of 16-38-1.

The position is currently posted on the Florida High School Athletic Association website, with a deadline of Aug. 5 to submit applications.
