Visions for Vacancies: Former Laundromat

What do you think should go in this vacant Largo storefront at 3534 Adrian Ave.?

When you go down Indian Rocks Road, what kind of stores do you wish were there?

The property owner of the old laundromat, off of Indian Rocks Road, plans to "fix it up and rent it out as retail space," said Richard Martin, a spokesperson for the property.

The vacant storefront, near the intersection of Adrian Avenue and Indian Rocks Road, shares the plaza with Munchie's and Michael's Food Store. Munchie's is apparently currently closed for repairs.

The old laundromat has a building permit, which is in the review process with the Largo building department, to remodel its bathrooms, according city spokesperson Brandon Graham.

This corner historically has had a bad reputation. A smart move on this property would be to re-roof and repaint the entire building, it looks quite outdated and the greenery is very overgrown. Combine both the restaurant nextdoor with the laundromat and turn it into a hometown gathering place. A place that welcomes all and supports the neighborhood functions while respecting the fact that there is a school nextdoor and is in a residential neighborhood. Another idea is a beach oriented store where snowbirds can stop off and grab what they need at a reasonable price on the way to the beach. It's been vacant for so long that it's an eyesore :(

Tina you are correct, that corner has a bad reputation before you moved here because of drug dealing. However, the last bar was called the Brass Rail and it really wasn't a problem to the neighborhood nor was the bar (Munchies) a problem when Trish owned it. We've spoken to the community and they would welcome with open arms a restaurant/bar similar to the OLD Munchies or even the Brass Rail. Taking over the laundry side and expanding would be a great deal! The building itself has issues though which need to be addressed first. With that being said, lets just hope whomever takes over does the right thing.

I live in the neighborhood and the entire corner is gross. The corner market is unclean and does not look sanitary. If the entire building had a face lift. That would be wonderful. A little perk up may be painted Florida style and landscape. Belleair Blluffs is great..Indian Rocks could be an extension of this. A nice sports bar? Cool resturant Not a place to be scared to walk in.. This would bring the entire neighbor hood property value raise.
