Update: Ulmerton and East Bay Road Construction Projects

Roadway improvements continue on Largo's major east-west roadways.

The East Bay Drive will cover all intersections along the West Bay and East Bay Drive corridor from Gulf Boulevard to U.S. 19, Largo City Manager Norton Craig at the Sept. 11 city commission meeting said.

The traffic light improvements will be completed in a phased approach. This year, signal cabinets will be upgraded at each light. Then, starting in 2013, cameras and message boards will be added at the lights, Craig said.

"Timed lights would make my day," said Commissioner Curtis Holmes.

The goal is to improve traffic flow, and the completed project will be similar to the improvements on SR 580 in Dunedin, Craig said.

Work to  to a six-lane roadway continues. Ulmerton improvements from Seminole Boulevard to Belcher Road will take three more years. The rest of the Ulmerton Road improvements will take about five more years, Craig said.
