The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority has announced that its August ridership set a new all-time high for the month of August.

According to PSTA, August had more than 1.2 million rides, which is a one percent increase from August 2012. That figure also represents a four percent increase from July.

"What’s most impressive about this record is that we did it with one fewer weekday than in August 2012,” said PSTA spokesperson Bob Lasher in a news release.

PSTA officials said the organization sees more than 44,000 trips every weekday.
