Nearly $190K of Fitness Equipment Planned for Highland Rec Center

City leaders look to purchase cardio, strength training and specialty equipment for the new fitness center at Highland Recreation Center which is expected to open in May.

What is a state-of-the-art recreation center without some 21st century fitness equipment?

City leaders look to purchase nearly $190,000 of cardio, strength training and specialty equipment for the soon-to-be-opened Highland Recreation Complex at their commission meeting Tuesday.

The $122,000 of cardio equipment includes 12 treadmills, four elliptical machines and two recumbent bicycles from Fit Rev. Similar equipment is also used at the Southwest Recreation Complex.

“Their treadmills have the largest weight capacity, more programming variety for the user, and the best warranty for the equipment,” according to city documents.

The new fitness center also will have $52,000 of strength training equipment including six weight sets, an Olympic bench, leg extension, curl and press machines and ab machines from Grow Equipment Group.

“The equipment is easy for the average citizen to use including placards with instructions for the user,” according to city documents.

The center also will feature about $14,000 of specialty equipment from Athletic Concepts including a self propelled treadmill, rowing machine, two dumbbell sets, two straight bar sets and an Ab coaster.

“These specialty products offer variety and unique features to the Highland fitness center,” according to city documents.

The 40,000-square foot, $17-million recreation center which features a 3-story indoor playground and basketball courts is expected to open in May.

As usual government lied to us. They said if we switch over to reclaimed we will have water forRead More lawns whenever we wanted!!!!! NOT!!! Plus they didin't tell us that we would probably have to replace all valves in sprinkler system shortly after because this water isn't as clean and destroys them. You then have to put in different ones to accommodate the grit etc in the water. Same with the heads those little screens get clogged a lot more and need service more. So much for SAViNG $$$$$$ NOT
