Florida Amendment 8: What a Yes Vote Means

Take a closer look at the proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution before you head to the polls Nov. 6.

Whether you head to the polls Nov. 6 to cast your vote or you’re planning on voting early, you can count on having to decipher a very long ballot. In addition to national, state and local candidates, this year’s ballot also includes a number of proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution.

To help speed up the process at the polls, Largo Patch has created a guide on each of the amendments. Let’s take a look at Amendment 8 and what a yes vote on it means at the polls.

Amendment 8: Religious Freedom

This amendment repeals a provision in the state Constitution that bans taxpayer funding of religious institutions. If passed, the measure would enable the state to provide financial support to religious schools and institutions.

Opponents, including the League of Women Voters of Florida, say the amendment erodes the separation of church and state and takes away from public education.

Supporters say the measure would enable the state to provide funding for programs that are considered valuable public services.

What a Yes Vote Means

A vote of yes on this amendment is a show of support for its passage.

As usual government lied to us. They said if we switch over to reclaimed we will have water forRead More lawns whenever we wanted!!!!! NOT!!! Plus they didin't tell us that we would probably have to replace all valves in sprinkler system shortly after because this water isn't as clean and destroys them. You then have to put in different ones to accommodate the grit etc in the water. Same with the heads those little screens get clogged a lot more and need service more. So much for SAViNG $$$$$$ NOT
