8th Avenue Roadwork Nearing Completion

The Florida Department of Transportation expects the roadwork, which started in June, to be finished around Thanksgiving.

A drainage improvement and road repair project by the intersection of Seminole Boulevard and Eighth Avenue Southwest is nearing completion.

Remaining work includes signage, sod and replacing temporary road striping with new thermoplastic striping, wrote Florida Department of Transportation spokesperson Kris Carson in an email.

The project included replacing damage drainage pipes on Eighth Avenue Southwest between Second Street Southwest and Seminole Boulevard, which is complete, Carson wrote.

The traffic signals and poles were replaced with new hurricane resistant ones at Eighth Avenue. The inspection on the lights will be done soon. Once the inspection is compete, the new traffic signals will be turned on, Carson wrote.

The $1.5 million project should be completed by around Thanksgiving. There will be a few more nights of night work, but there should not be any noise issues, Carson wrote.
