5th Annual Recycled Innovations Contest Open

The fifth annual Recycled Innovations contest is now open through Oct. 31.

'Junk geniuses' can show off their repurposed rubbish to win prizes in the city's fifth annual Recycled Innovations contest.

All ages can participate in the online contest that challenges builders to create useful items using at least 75 percent of otherwise discarded material.

Innovators will compete for prizes including a solar-powered charger, a solar-powered back pack and a paper recycling machine. Prizes will be awarded to contestants with the most online votes in multiple age categories.

The winners will be invited to join the city’s recycling coordinator on CBS's midday television program, Studio 10 to get their prizes on America Recycles Day, Nov. 15.
