Man Charged With Taking 11 Packs of Golf Gloves

Thomas J. Saylor, 82, of Clearwater, told police he planned to give the gloves as prizes at a golf tournament in Dunedin, according to the arrest affidavit.

A K-Mart shopper was arrested Saturday after he was seen allegedly concealing 11 packs of golf gloves.

Thomas J. Saylor headed to the Largo store's garden section with the gloves. Then Saylor "passed all points of sales and stopped after exiting the store," according to an arrest affidavit.

The 82-year-old man was read his Miranda rights and then told a Largo Police officer he was "taking the gloves for a golf tournament in Dunedin. He was going to give them as prizes," according to the report.

The total retail value of the merchandise recovered was $138.99, according to police.

Saylor was arrested on the charge of petty theft. Saylor is in Pinellas County Jail on $500 bond. He has been convicted on charges of theft in January, 2012 and in 2009, according to the report.
