Largo Fire Rescue Raises Over $10,000 for Muscular Dystrophy

Largo firefighters banned together to raise $10,915 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's "Fill the Boot" campaign.

In this tough economy the city's firefghters were still able to raise $2000 more than last year, said Erin Authier, executive director of MDA St. Petersburg, who presented a certificate of appreciation to during the Sept. 6 city commission meeting. 

"We are proud of our firefighters," said Mayor Pat Gerard.

Statewide, firefighters collected $1,996,337 in over 300 communities in the 2010 campaign. They are MDA's largest source of funding.

MDA sponsored Firefighter Appreciation Month in September 2011 to show their appreciation to the department.

As usual government lied to us. They said if we switch over to reclaimed we will have water forRead More lawns whenever we wanted!!!!! NOT!!! Plus they didin't tell us that we would probably have to replace all valves in sprinkler system shortly after because this water isn't as clean and destroys them. You then have to put in different ones to accommodate the grit etc in the water. Same with the heads those little screens get clogged a lot more and need service more. So much for SAViNG $$$$$$ NOT

Sure would be nice if there was a fund-raiser started so that those of us who can't afford $500.00Read More or $1,000.00 could contribute smaller amounts to help buy a chair or two for this great cause !!!!
