Free Bike Lights Available from Largo Police

Need lights for your bike?

The Largo Police Department received more than 1,000 bicycle light packages from the Florida Department of Transportation, to give away to the public.

Each package contains an LED headlight and tail light, mountable to a bicycle.

The Largo Police Department's Traffic Safety Unity began a concentrated effort to enforce bicycle safety and are stopping bicyclist who are operating bicycles without lights.

Several bicyclists have already been stopped and issued a written warning for the violation. After receiving their written warning, Traffic Safety Officers installed new lights on their bicycles before they rode off.

Bicycle lights will be kept at the front desk of the Largo Police Department, to give away and install on bicycles for those who are in need of them.

"Our intentions are to actually install the lights on bicycles as opposed to simply handing them out," according to a news release.

If you would like to register your bike or golf cart with the City of Largo complete the registry form and mail it to the Police Department. The address is 201 Highland Avenue, Largo, FL 33770.
