Death Investigation Underway in Holiday

Authorities are looking into a fire and body at 2641 Flintwood Drive.

Authorities are investigating a fire and death at a home in Holiday.

Pasco County Fire Rescue informed the Pasco Sheriff’s Office about the house fire at 2641 Flintwood Drive at 6:26 a.m. today, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Fire Rescue workers searched the home and found the body of a white man inside. The Fire Marshall is investigating the fire, and the Sheriff’s Office has opened a death investigation looking into the body.

It appears the body is that of a homeless man, Sheriff's Office spokesman Doug Tobin said. The agency later named the man as Wyatt Vanover, 59.

"The homeowners were contacted, and no one was supposed to be home at the time of the fire," he said. "Preliminary information shows the fire started in the kitchen but fire investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.  There was smoke and fire damage throughout the home."
