Teen's Shooting May Be Accidental

The Sheriff's Office is reporting that the shooting of a 17-year-old at a Largo home may be the result of 'horseplay.' The boy is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

UPDATE, SATURDAY MORNING:

A preliminary investigation into the shooting of a 17-year-old at 11133 111th
Way in Largo may have been a result of horseplay with a gun, according to the Crimes Against Children Unit at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The victim was transported by air to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The investigation continues.

A 17-year-old boy was shot at a Largo home Friday night, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports.

Deputies responded to the home in the 11000 block of 111th Way around 7:45 p.m. The teen was transported to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said in a media release.

The sheriff's Crimes Against Children Unit is conducting an investigation. No further details were immediately available.
