“Detectives are still trying to chase down leads at this time,” Rob Shaw, Clearwater Police spokesman, said in an email. “We don’t have a good description of the car right now.”

A passing driver discovered a set of handlebars in the eastbound curb lane of Memorial Causeway before 6:18 a.m. A tandem bike was found in the bicycle lane. And the two injured riders were laying in a grassy area off the roadway about 50 feet apart from each other.
