Weekend Things to Do: March 9-11

Pack Your Tent, Play Unplugged, Pow Wow, Pinellas Centennial, Play

1. Pack Your Tent. Enjoy a cookout, night hike, wildlife show, smore's, breakfast and more at Bonner Nature Park, (14444 143rd St. N.) The camping event begins Friday at 6 p.m. and ends Saturday morning. Cost is $10. All children must be accompanied by adults.

2. Play Unplugged., 101 Central Park Drive, becomes one huge play space for children to gather and use their imaginations on Saturday from 2 until 8 p.m. The park will be filled with hands-on games, discovery stations and recycled play environments. No video games, TV or computers at this event. There will be live entertainment and healthy food vendors. Play Unplugged is for children of ALL ages!

3. Pow Wow Festival. The Seminole Pow Wow started in 1967 and has grown to include a parade, carnival, pancake breakfast, fireworks, a truck pull, children's activities and more. The festivities are March 9-11. The festival is at the Holland G. Mangum Recreation Complex, 9100 113th St. N, Seminole. For a complete list of Pow Wow events and times.

4. Pinellas Centennial Lecture. Continuing the recognition of the 100th birthday of Pinellas County, this month's history lecture presents the urbanization that transformed Pinellas County during the 1950s as developments replaced old groves and farmlands. "Home Rule" brought political power to the local level, while cold war industries fueled the vibrant economy. This free program begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

5. Play. The presents "What Is Susan's Secret?"  The comedy shares the tale of a pair of doddering inkeepers that are actually clever con artists preying on their guests. The theatre is at 200 S McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater. Evening show times this weekend are: Thursday through Sunday at 4 p.m. Cost is $29.90 for the dinner and show.
