5 Things to Do This Weekend, Oct. 5-7: Bret Michaels, Oktoberfest

1. Bret Michaels concert.  The "Get Your Rock on Tour 2012" comes to Largo Friday night at 8 p.m. Bret Michaels is known for being the frontman of Poison, with songs like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." He was also on the NBC TV show "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2010.

2. Walk Like MADD. The walk and 5K benefit Mother's Against Drunk Driving. American Idol finalist Jeremy Rosado will sing and sign autographs.

• When: Friday, Oct. 5 registration begins at 5 p.m., run at 6 p.m., walk 6:30 p.m.
• Where: 1700 Gulf Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach (17th Avenue Beach Park)
• Cost: $20 registration fee includes t-shirt, food and prizes.

3. First Friday Oktoberfest. Largo's First Friday this month has an Oktoberfest theme. Head to downtown Largo for an evening of live music, shopping, food, drink, street performers and more.

• When: Friday, Oct. 5 from 6 until 11 p.m.
• Where: 80 Clearwater-Largo Rd. South area
• Cost: No admission. Food, drink available for purchase.

4. Achieva Box Car Rally. This family friend event benefits classrooms in Pinellas County. There will be box car races, food, drinks, kids events, local vendors and more.

• When: Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
• Where: 500 Cleveland St, Clearwater
• Cost: No admission. Food, drink available for purchase.

5. Train Weekend. Ready for a ride through Largo Central Park? The Largo Central Railroad runs the first full weekend of each month. Save time in line: Complete the Train Waiver and bring it with you.

• When: Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days
• Where: 101 Central Park Dr., Largo
• Cost: Free, donations appreciated.
