Largo Builder Norman Barringer Dies at Age 82

Norman Barringer was known for his home-building business and involvement in the Largo community.

A well-known retired Largo contractor has died in Tallahassee at the age of 82.

TBN.Weekly reports that Norman Lyell Barringer died on June 23, 2013. He was the father of former Florida Secretary of State Sandra Mortham.

Barringer had been working on a handyman project in the backyard when he fell down and hit his head. He died almost a month later after undergoing brain surgery.

Family members said that Barringer had hoped to revisit Largo and missed his former community dearly.

Barringer was a member of theLargo Chamber of Commerce, Largo Jaycees and Kiwanis club. Barringer ran a successful home-building company for 36 years. The Largo Chamber of Commerce building was dedicated in his honor in 1987.
