Public Hearing at 9.30am on Tuesday 9th July please help support the residents of Briarwood

"Pinellas County Commission will hold a public hearing and vote at 9:30am on Tuesday, July 9, in the County Commission Chambers, on whether to change the land use designation for Briarwood RV Park at the corner of Ulmerton Road and Seminole Boulevard in Largo, to "residential high", in order to construct 260 market rate apartments at that intersection.

As a result, many low income Pinellas County residents, including seniors, minimum wage workers, the disabled, and veterans, are being forced to move from the park which has been their home for more than ten years. Minimal relocation assistance is being offered by the Developer, creating hardship for these vulnerable residents.

The park has more than 1100 trees, according to an arborist employed by the developer who is tagging the trees. It is also home to red tailed hawks, owls, otters, woodpeckers, a coyote, and other wildlife. A pair of wild eagles nested in the park two winters ago.

If you are opposed to development of more green space in Pinellas County and to evicting low income residents from their homes, please come and tell the County Commissioners how you feel."
